Korda Silicone Sleeves

Korda Silicone Sleeves

In 2003 Korda released the increasingly popular Run Rig kits, after this they received a massive demand for the silicone sleeves to be sold separately.
They found that by using a small piece to cover the swivel on the lead it kept everything neat and tidy but more importantly offered much better camouflage. They are also the perfect size to fit over our Kwik-links as well as the newly released Stik-Klip.

We started off manufacturing them in weedy green but have now extended the range by adding a silty brown version. No other company produces such a wide range of colours because no other company has seen how much difference it can make. We shall continue to strive for better ways of fooling the most wary of carp.

To fit, thread piece of line through eye of swivel or Kwik-link and then through sleeve, wet metal item with saliva and pull on sleeve. Sleeves may need to be cut down for some applications.

Available in:

  • Muddy Brown
  • Weedy Green (Camo)

Korda Shockleader Sleeves

Korda Shockleader Sleeves

Korda Shockleader Sleeves

Like all our products, the Shockleader Sleeve puts fish safety as top priority. Korda have designed this sleeve to make your inline rig as anti-tangle and fish friendly as possible when using shockleaders. If the line breaks, the lead pulls free and slides down the line easily passing over the leader knot. Once the lead is off fish find it easier to get rid of the hook.

Korda Safe Zone Anti Tangle Sleeves - Clay

Korda anti tangle sleeves have been specially designed to reduce tangles and push th ehooklink away from the lead system. Coated hooklinks such as Hybrid or fluorocarbon like IQ work best when the hooklink is laid straight and away from the lead system. This will increase the effectiveness of the rig and help to turn more bites in to hooked fish.

Korda Link Loop

!

Korda Link Loop

Korda Link Loop

Quick and easy rig changes are a necessary part of carp angling today. The link loop has been specially designed to replace the need for tying a loop in the end of your hook link. The obvious advantage is the increased strength due to the use of a grinner or blood knot used to tie the link loop to the rig, especially when using monofilament or coated hook link materials.
The link loop will fit both sizes of the Stik Klip as well as the Kwik Link. The low diameter steel and drop design is easily pulled through all of the funnel web mesh's using a baiting needle. As with all our metal products the link loops are finished in a non-reflective coating to give the best camouflage possible.

Korda Hybrid Running Rig

Korda Hybrid Running Rig

Korda Hybrid Running Rig

Korda Hybrid Running Rigs are a cross breed of the best parts of modern running rigs. The large eye of the special swivel creates very little friction, greatly enhancing bite indication. The small lead link and silicone sleeve combine to form a very neat, tangle free system.
The rig can be left on your rods, minus the lead, in between sessions too, maximising bank time. Running rigs offer better indication of what is happening at the rig end. When fish are picking up the rig and getting away with it, running rigs will show this more accurately.
Using low-stretch monos will also greatly enhance the indication. This way you can shorten the hook link or make the hook bigger to turn pick-ups into runs. A running rig also acts totally differently to a semi-fixed set-up when the carp picks up the bait because the lead will always run away from the fish. This can work well on waters where standard bolt rigs are overfished.
Some long-range anglers favour the running systems because they can be sure that the lead will easily slide over the shockleader knot and off of the end of the line should the line be cut during the fight or should they crack off, sending the rig out a distance that makes it even more likely to be picked up. We have designed this new system to make it easy to set up a true, low-friction running rig that registers bites more effectively and has superb anti-tangle qualities. It can be used with either rig tubing or lead core and as always is totally compatible with all Korda components.

Korda Run Rig Rubbers - Weed

Our 'Safe Zone' Run Rig Rubbers have been specially designed for use with running rigs incorporating the 'Safe Zone' Kamo Leaders, Leadcore or our Kamo Rig Tube. As you'd expect from Korda these are like no other Run Rig beads available. It was while fishing at big distances on a running rig only water that Danny came up with this new idea.
A shoulder has been angled on the rubber at 30 degrees, this means the Big Eyed Swivel holding the lead sits at a much better angle than any standard running rig set up, this will not only minimise the chance of any tangles but will also help get those extra few yards when fishing at long range.
The soft rubber compound is designed to hold the swivel and rig tube securely.

Korda Safe Zone Rubber 4mm Bead

Korda Safe Zone Rubber 4mm Bead

These were designed for use with the 'Safe Zone' flying back leads. The hole inside the bead is tapered so if it is fished with the larger hole facing towards the rod then it will pass more easily over a leader knot.
The small hole will then rest against the top of the anti-tangle system stopping the large bore of the back leads from sliding down the anti-tangle system which would stop the flying back lead 'flying' back on the cast.
Purely coincidentally it is perfect for use on the new 'Safe Zone' leaders should you wish to fish them 'chod' style and anchor the hook link on one of the two tungsten collars designed to hold the leader down on the lakebed.
They are also ideal for the shocker rig, which incorporates a running inline lead with a back stop set a few inches behind it on one of our new leaders or on a length of rig tube.
I'm sure anglers will find a multitude of uses for them.

Korda Safe Zone Rig Tube

!

Korda Safe Zone Rig Tube

Korda Safe Zone Rig Tube

Not only does rig tubing stop the hook link from wrapping around the main line on the cast preventing a tangle, it also stops the fish coming in contact with the line during the fight. This is a vital safety aspect of the rig which we feel should not be ignored.
Danny has actually seen a carp roll on the line as it was being played and watched as scales fluttered down to the lake bed. When the carp was landed it had several white marks where the scales used to be. This was from a method feeder where no tubing was required because the hook link was squashed inside the method ball so it could not tangle.
But, for the sake of having some tubing on which if you use it right does not have to spook the carp, you will ensure the fish stay as perfect as the moment they made the mistake of wanting your hook bait!
Our tubing has a matt finish, which makes it harder to see underwater and most importantly easy to thread. It comes in four colours, all of which sink without the need for putty. Having said that, we have seen from the underwater footage that the better the rig is pinned to the lake bed the less scared the carp will be.
It is also better to get the colour of the tube exactly right for the spot you are fishing and then weight it with extra putty. Our underwater experience tells us our colours are right and extra putty can only enhance the whole set up but is not as essential as getting the colour right.

CAMOUFLAGED WEED - suits silkweed on the bottom and the vast majority of lake bed where a small amount of bottom weed/algae is present. Check out Part 2 of the Underwater Films to see just how much weed can be out there when you would never know it.
SILT - perfect for silty waters and gravel pits where there is a lot of sediment collected, even on the gravel spots. Danny recalls: “I started fishing the wonderful Savay Lake on a winter day ticket many years ago. It was superb to be feeling the lead/marker pulling over all that gravel, up the sides of bars and through silty gullies, real textbook stuff!
“After some plumbing I tried pulling the float and lead through the margins which looked like they had a shallow layer or silt on top of gravel. The feeling matched what I had felt on the tops of he bars, really profound tremors as the lead bounced over the gravel. However, the lead was out of sight under the silt, I could not see it under the rod tip in a foot of water. So, never assume just because you can feel gravel that there is not a layer of sediment on top of it. Check what it's like in the edge before deciding on what’s out there.”
GRAVEL - very light green and excellent on clean gravel bottoms, perfect for gravel pits. This one can be excellent in one part of the swim and looking like a laser beam in another. On clean gravel it's great but over silt or weed it stands out like a sore thumb. It sounds like a lot of messing about but matching your rig to the colour of the lake bed it will be lying on will get you more bites. Part 3 of the underwater series has good examples of this.

CLAY - blends in nicely to any lake bed with clay and sand.

TUBING TIPS
Always cut the line to a point and straighten it out first before trying to thread it down the tube. Curly line with a flattened end is almost impossible to thread! Our tube comes in large packets so the coils are kept as big as possible. It is also very supple so it straightens straight out of the packet.
In winter, it may be necessary to warm it through your fingers to straighten it out before threading. If you take tubing off and you’re intent to reuse it then slide it up and down a tight line to get the silt etc out of the middle. It is dry gunk up inside the tube, which makes it so hard to thread a second time.
You can leave line inside it and use it to pull a new bit through next time by simply tying an overhand knot around the new line and carefully pulling through. If you are pushing the tube into the top of a rubber, then cut it to a point before threading. The pointed tube pushes much easier into the rubber.
Never glue the join as it makes it brittle, which will then snap after repeated use. When your tube has finally come to the end of its life cut it up into inch lengths put it in your tackle box and use it for hair stops, that's what I do.

Korda Sinkers Tungsten Hooklink Weights

Korda Sinkers Tungsten Hooklink Weights

Korda Sinkers Tungsten Hooklink Weights

A compact hooklength weight, made from heavy tungsten, designed to slide onto your hook link and ultimately pin it to the lake bed to keep your hooklength out of the carp’s way. Simply place your hook link material through one of the Sinker sections and slide the weight on. Moistening the hooklength will allow it to slide much easier. The great thing about a Sinker is that it stays in position rather than flying off on the cast like putty may. Available in Safezone colours to camouflage into the lake bed and two separate sizes.

Korda Kwik Link

!

Korda Kwik Link

Korda Kwik Link

The Korda Kwik Link has been specially designed to aid the angler to change the size of lead on our Running Rig. However, it has a multitude of uses and can be used for anything that needs to be attached or removed quickly and easily, such as a marker float.
Danny says: “I now use the Kwik Links for all of my fishing. I attach the link to the swivel that is held inside the inline or lead clip. I then tie an overhand loop in the end of the hook link making sure I tighten the knot fully, especially when I use the Hybrid material.
“It is actually best to tighten the knots over steam to ensure that it beds down fully. I slide a small length of our new 3mm Silicone Sleeve onto the hook link before clipping it onto the Kwik Link. I then slide the silicone up over the Kwik Link to stop any chance of the hook link unthreading during the cast.
“I can now change hook links within seconds and I do not have to pull the swivel in and out of the lead clip. This prevents any wear and tear and so extends the working life of each clip. The longer the swivel stays in the firmer the grip becomes. This ensures the lead will pull off the clip if it gets snagged during the fight.”
Also available in extra small.
